Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace: how to choose in 2026
Both suites do the same job. The right choice depends on your usage, your business tools and your collaboration culture. A decision guide.

It is the question almost every executive asks us before a migration. The honest answer: both suites are excellent, and the wrong choice is rarely catastrophic. But some criteria settle it clearly.
Choose Microsoft 365 if…
- Your teams work in advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, Power Query). Google Sheets does not replace these uses.
- You run Windows business applications or an Active Directory server: integration with Entra ID and Intune is native.
- Your clients and partners exchange Office files and expect perfect compatibility.
- You want Teams as unified telephony and video conferencing.
Choose Google Workspace if…
- Your organisation is young, mobile and works mostly in the browser.
- Real-time co-editing and simple sharing matter more than advanced features.
- You have little or no Windows infrastructure to maintain.
- Your per-user budget is tight: entry plans are often cheaper.
The criteria that should not decide
Storage, baseline security and reliability are equivalent. Do not choose on those points. In both cases, however, data backup is not included beyond the recycle bin: plan a third-party backup.
