The short answer: in Morocco, Google Workspace is bought either directly online from Google, or through a partner who orders, invoices and administers the licences for you. The edition comes down to three concrete needs: storage per user, meeting recording, and compliance tools such as Google Vault or data loss prevention. For most SMBs, Business Standard is the right starting point. Migration, whether from a cPanel host, an Exchange server or Microsoft 365, uses Google’s free tools, provided you follow a precise order.

At ALLSAFE SOLUTIONS, we are a Google Workspace partner and a Microsoft partner in Casablanca. We supply the licences, with or without support services, and we handle migration and administration. Every feature quoted here comes from Google’s official pages; we do not give prices, which depend on the edition, the commitment plan and the period.

Still deciding between the two main suites? Start with our comparison Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. This article assumes the choice of Google has been made.

Buying Google Workspace in Morocco: two routes

Direct purchase from Google Purchase through a Google Workspace partner
Ordering Online, on Google’s website With the partner, who creates or takes over the subscription
Payment A payment method accepted by Google, charged monthly Invoice issued by the partner
Setup Up to you: domain, DNS, accounts, security Done by the partner
Support Google support, online A local contact, escalating to Google when needed
Day-to-day administration Up to you Can be handed to the partner under a managed services contract

Buying direct suits a small organisation with an administrator comfortable with DNS and the Admin console. A partner becomes useful as soon as you need an invoice that fits your company’s accounting, a migration to run, or someone to handle joiners, leavers and security day to day.

One point often overlooked: a subscription bought directly from Google can be transferred to a partner without recreating accounts or touching data. The administrator generates a transfer token in the Admin console and gives it to the partner. Users notice nothing.

Which edition: Business, Enterprise or Education

Business editions are capped at 300 users. Beyond that, or for certain security features, you move to Enterprise.

Edition Storage Meet meetings What sets it apart
Business Starter 30 GB pooled per user Up to 100 participants, no recording Email on your domain, Gemini in Gmail, fundamental endpoint management
Business Standard 2 TB pooled per user Up to 150 participants, recording to Drive Gemini in Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive and Meet
Business Plus 5 TB pooled per user Up to 500 participants Google Vault (retention, eDiscovery), advanced endpoint management
Enterprise 5 TB pooled, more on request Up to 1,000 participants Data loss prevention (DLP), context-aware access, enterprise endpoint management, no user cap

Our reading, after many deployments:

  • Business Starter is enough for a team that mainly wants professional email and a shared calendar, with few large files. Two limits tend to surface later: no meeting recording, and storage that fills quickly if Drive replaces a file server.
  • Business Standard is the SMB default: the storage lets shared drives replace a file server, and recorded meetings serve for training and minutes.
  • Business Plus makes sense as soon as you must retain email for a set period, respond to a legal request, or better control the phones and computers that access data. It is often the right level for a law firm, a clinic or a company handling sensitive data.
  • Enterprise is required beyond 300 users, or when you need to block sharing of sensitive documents (DLP) and make access conditional on device state or sign-in location.

Upgrading is done from the Admin console, with no data migration. So it is better to start on the edition you actually need than to oversize.

Google Workspace for Education

Eligible educational institutions can use Education Fundamentals, offered at no charge by Google, with storage pooled across the institution. Paid editions such as Education Plus add security, analytics and teaching features. Google checks eligibility based on the institution’s status: we prepare the application with you before setup begins.

Billing: Flexible Plan or annual plan

Google offers two payment plans, whichever channel you buy through:

Flexible Plan Annual/Fixed-Term Plan
Commitment None One year on the number of licences purchased
Adding users Any time Any time
Removing users Any time, billed on actual use each month Only at renewal
Price per user Higher Lower
Early cancellation No penalty The remaining commitment is still due

The Flexible Plan suits an organisation whose headcount varies: seasonal staff, projects, interns. The annual plan suits a stable or growing headcount. A classic trap: committing for a year on an inflated headcount “to be safe”, then paying all year for unused licences.

Also think about accounts that are not people. An address like contact@ or invoices@ does not need a licence if it becomes an alias or a Google group. Designed properly, this avoids paying licences for shared mailboxes.

Migrating to Google Workspace: which tool for your starting point

Google publishes a matrix of migration tools. Here is what we use for an SMB.

Starting point Suitable Google tool What moves
cPanel host or any IMAP server Data migration service (Data import), IMAP source Email and folders
Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online) Data migration service Exchange Online mail, OneDrive and SharePoint files, Teams chats
On-premises Exchange server Google Workspace Migration for Microsoft Exchange (GWMME) Email, calendars, contacts
Outlook PST files GWMMO for a few users, GWMME beyond Email, calendars, contacts
Large organisations, over 1,000 users Google Workspace Migrate or advanced data import Mail and files, with more configuration

From cPanel, migration is the simplest, but IMAP only carries email: calendars and address books must be exported separately, device by device. From Microsoft 365, Google’s tool picks up much more, but sharing permissions, SharePoint sites and Teams need reorganising: rethink the structure as shared drives rather than copying it as is. The reverse path is described in our guide to migrating from cPanel to Microsoft 365, whose sequence of steps still applies.

The order that avoids losing email

  1. Inventory: mailboxes, aliases, distribution lists, shared addresses, and devices and software that send email (copiers, business software, website forms).
  2. Verify the domain in the Google Admin console with a TXT record, without touching the MX.
  3. Create accounts, groups and aliases at Google, with 2-step verification planned from the start.
  4. Copy the history with the right tool while the old mail system keeps running.
  5. Switch DNS: MX to Google, SPF updated, DKIM enabled from the console, then DMARC.
  6. Run a final pass to collect messages that reached the old server during propagation.
  7. Support users: Gmail on the web, mobile apps, and for those attached to Outlook, Google’s sync tool, to be checked against your edition.

The switchover happens outside working hours, and the old mail system stays reachable while you check nothing is missing.

Security and administration: settings for day one

Google Workspace is secure by design, but the default configuration leaves several doors open. The settings we apply every time:

  • 2-step verification enforced for everyone, with security keys or passkeys for administrators. See our MFA rollout guide.
  • Super admin accounts limited to two people, separate from everyday working accounts, with delegated admin roles for everything else.
  • External sharing controlled: by default, files do not leave the domain without explicit action, and shared drives belong to the organisation, not to an employee.
  • SPF, DKIM and DMARC configured, so your email gets delivered and your domain cannot easily be spoofed.
  • Endpoint management switched on: on editions that allow it, remote wipe of company data on a lost phone.
  • A written offboarding procedure: suspend the account, transfer files and mailbox, and only then remove the licence.
  • Third-party backup of Gmail and Drive, because Google guarantees the service, not the recovery of your data in every case. The principle is the same as for Microsoft, see shared responsibility.

If you process personal data about customers, patients or employees, also check your obligations under Law 09-08 before migrating.

What a Google Workspace partner brings

A partner is not just a licence reseller. In our case, it covers:

  • Advice on the edition and billing plan, based on your real usage, so you only pay for what is used.
  • Supply of licences, with a clear invoice for your accounting, and transfer of your existing subscription if you wish.
  • End-to-end migration, from inventory to final pass, with no email interruption.
  • Security from day one, following the list above.
  • Day-to-day administration: joiners and leavers, passwords, shared drives, devices, and user support.
  • Monitoring and backup, included in your managed services contract.

The mistakes we fix most often

  1. Business Starter chosen on price, then a full Drive a few months later because it replaced the file server.
  2. One licence per shared address, when a group or an alias would do.
  3. MX switched before the history was copied, and users landing in an empty mailbox.
  4. Files in an employee’s “My Drive” instead of shared drives, which disappear with the account.
  5. No DKIM or DMARC, and email ending up in your customers’ spam folders.
  6. A single super admin, often a former provider or an employee who has left.
  7. No backup, from confusing service availability with data retention.

Checklist before ordering

  • Actual number of users, and list of addresses that can become aliases or groups.
  • Volume of files to bring over, and whether a file server is being replaced.
  • Need to record meetings, retain email or manage devices.
  • Chosen edition and billing plan, Flexible or annual.
  • Migration starting point: cPanel, Exchange, Microsoft 365 or other.
  • Access to the domain’s DNS, and list of devices that send email.
  • Policy for MFA, external sharing and employee departures.
  • Third-party backup planned.

How we work

We start with a free audit of your email, files and usage. We recommend the right edition and billing plan, supply the licences, then prepare the migration: inventory, account creation, history copy, DNS switchover outside working hours and final pass. Security is set before users arrive, and backup is in place from the switchover. After that, we administer your Google Workspace environment day to day, with 24/7 monitoring and critical incidents handled in under 15 minutes.

See our Google Workspace partner page, our managed cloud offer and our case studies. Ready to move to Google Workspace, or to take back control of an existing subscription? Request your free initial audit: we reply within 24 business hours with a costed recommendation.

Frequently asked questions

Can you buy Google Workspace licences in Morocco?

Yes. A Moroccan company can subscribe directly online with Google, using a payment method Google accepts, or go through a Google Workspace partner such as ALLSAFE SOLUTIONS, who handles ordering, invoicing, administration and support. An existing subscription bought from Google can also be transferred to a partner.

Which Google Workspace edition should an SMB choose?

Business Standard suits most SMBs: 2 TB of pooled storage per user, Meet recording and Gemini in Docs, Sheets and Gmail. Business Starter is enough for simple email. Business Plus adds Google Vault and advanced endpoint management. Beyond 300 users, or for DLP and context-aware access, you need an Enterprise edition.

What is the difference between the Flexible and the annual plan?

On the Flexible Plan, you add or remove users at any time and pay each month for the accounts actually in use. The Annual/Fixed-Term Plan commits you to a number of licences for a year at a lower per-user price: you can add licences during the term, but not remove them before renewal.

Can you migrate from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace without losing email?

Yes. Google’s data migration service imports Exchange Online mailboxes, OneDrive and SharePoint files, and even Teams chats. You create the accounts first, copy the history, then switch the MX record once data is in sync, and a final pass picks up messages received in the meantime.

Do you need to back up Google Workspace?

Yes. Google guarantees the service is available, not that you can recover data after an old deletion, a compromised account or an employee leaving. Google Vault, included from Business Plus, is for retention and legal search; it does not replace a third-party backup.
