Accounting & law firms

Protect client files without slowing down your partners and staff.

An accounting firm, fiduciary or law firm lives on the confidentiality of its files. Financial statements, tax returns, contracts, court documents and client correspondence move every day through email, laptops and practice software. A leak, a hijacked mailbox or a server outage in the middle of a tax deadline can cost far more than a lost day of work.

We give firms lean, locked-down IT: hardened Microsoft 365 with MFA, secure remote access for partners, per-matter access rights, and email and file backups that sit outside Microsoft. We plan around your closing and filing periods so nothing stalls when the workload peaks.

The challenges in your industry

01

Professional secrecy and confidentiality

Each client file must be reachable only by authorised people. An over-shared folder or a misdirected email is enough to expose the firm.

02

Workload peaks at tax deadlines

Year-end closings, returns and filings pile up over a few weeks. A failed laptop, server or application at that moment becomes critical.

03

CEO fraud and fake bank details

Firms handle bank details and payment instructions, which makes them a target for spear phishing and business email compromise.

04

Remote work and travel

Partners and staff work at client sites, in court or from home. They need access to files without exposing the firm’s network.

Frequently asked questions

How do you secure an accounting or law firm’s IT?

Start by enabling MFA on email and remote access, deploying EDR on every endpoint and backing up data outside Microsoft 365. We then add a firewall, per-matter access rights and continuous monitoring.

Does Microsoft 365 automatically back up our firm’s email?

Not in the sense of a real backup. Microsoft keeps the service available, but recovering deleted or encrypted data is your responsibility. A third-party backup lets you restore a mailbox or folder to a specific point in time.

How can a firm prevent fake bank detail fraud?

Through a mix of technical controls and procedures: MFA, SPF, DKIM and DMARC protection, alerts on suspicious forwarding rules, and an internal rule to always call back before changing any bank details.

Can our partners work remotely and still stay secure?

Yes, with an MFA-protected VPN or controlled cloud access, encrypted devices managed remotely and active EDR. Client files stay inside the firm’s environment instead of travelling on USB sticks or personal email.
