Clinic cybersecurity: protecting patient data without blocking care

A clinic cannot stop. That is exactly why attackers target it: when the electronic patient record and imaging are encrypted, the pressure to pay is maximal. We support several healthcare facilities, and the priorities are always the same.

What is at stake

Health data, the most sensitive category under Law 09-08, the billing system, operating theatre schedules, the imaging PACS, the phone system for reception and emergencies. One hour of downtime is measured in rescheduled patients.

Priority 1: being able to restart

Immutable off-site backups of the patient record and imaging, a timed quarterly restore test, and a written recovery plan with the restart order: identity, network, patient record, imaging, billing.

Priority 2: closing the doors

MFA for every remote access, software vendors as well as doctors. Network separation between administrative, medical and biomedical equipment, often old and unpatchable. Next-generation firewall with filtering and logs.

Priority 3: endpoints and people

EDR on every workstation, removal of admin rights, sessions locked automatically in shared areas, short and regular awareness for reception staff, the first phishing target.

Priority 4: telephony

The phone system is part of the security setup: a hosted IP system with 4G backup guarantees patients can reach the clinic even if the site is down, and that emergency call queues keep working.

Compliance as a result, not a goal

Declaring processing to the CNDP, contracts with vendors and providers, retention periods, access traceability: these obligations are covered by the measures above. We provide the documentation that proves it.
